Derrick Ross + Half Face Blades
I can remember it like it was yesterday. Late summer of 2020 and I’m driving down the highway (George Bush Turnpike to be exact) and I got this wild idea. Originally I thought it was too far fetched and wasn’t going to pursue it but I did. Called up Hunter and told him “hey man, I want to find a veteran. With a prosthetic. Take that prosthetic to Half Face Blades and make a knife out of it. Give it to the veteran as an heirloom piece he can use on a daily basis but specifically on a hunt.” Well, Hunter made a call to his buddy and things just started coming together. October 2020 we met Derrick and shot a pre-interview and finished filming December 2020. THEN… the project sat. It didnt go as I had planned so I shelved it. Almost 4 years later, I woke up one morning and started from scratch. Finished this edit in 1 day and pretty stoked how it came out. Sometimes things need a little room to breathe. Super thankful for Derrick and Andy for their willingness to make this thing happen. - Matt
